How We Started
At the invitation of her former student, Father Francis Odoom, Dr. Monica Forret of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, visited rural schools, farms, and health care facilities in rural Ghana. The lack of libraries, computers, classroom supplies, and playground equipment inspired her to start Help Ghana Thrive in 2024.

Discover Our Mission and Vision for Future Success
The classrooms and community health facilities are sparsely furnished in rural Ghana, impeding the ability of teachers and health care professionals to assist the students and residents in their educational and healthcare needs. Through Help Ghana Thrive, we enable teachers and health care staff to perform their jobs more effectively through providing needed resources. For example, rather than learning about computers ‘theoretically’ we are building a computer lab in Twifo Aboabo to help prepare children for 21st century jobs. We want to help create environments where community members can thrive.
